Once an NVQ is awarded then a gym must put you forward to Fitpro for module training, they must inform them that after training they will offer cover or permanent slot to the instructor, there are no exemptions to this.
Check for a local module date and location and confirm availability. Then pay the fee for the course see Fitpro. Each program has individual training modules, which are either 2 or 3 days (3 days being 1 weekend and a further Saturday normally two weeks after). On the last day is an assessment on tracks learned, there are three outcomes: - Fail which means retaking the last day again.
- Clearance to Shadow which means there needs to be a little more work required and the instructor should shadow a qualified instructor for 4 weeks and then resubmit the tracks from the training on video for assessment again.
- Clearance to Team Teach, which means passed, you could go and teach a class solo afterwards but the recommendation is team teaching initially.
After 16 weeks a video must be submitted showing the whole routine with no breaks for final assessment. Pass mark is 60% overall in all the 5 key elements of the program, if slightly low the instructor maybe required to resubmit a few tracks for further assessment given the report on the video. If all goes well then the instructor is internationally certified in that program. They must attend 3 out of 4 quarterly workshops in the first year; these are presentation of the next release of music and choreography along with further training either specific or generic.
