EmailAt Les Mills Asia Pacific, we want to keep you informed on the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) claim against the Australian fitness industry. The decision was handed down yesterday.
Previously, Clubs paid a fee to the PPCA of 96.8 cents per group fitness class with a capped annual maximum of $2,654 - yesterday the Copyright Tribunal increased this to either $15 per class or to $1 per participant representing an extraordinary increase in fees for Clubs to pay for original music.

Members of the fitness industry have been subjected to a large amount of misinformed rumour about the likely outcome and its implications for the fitness industry.

Emailthe bid on cool stuff auction
proceeds towards fighting unfair copyright fees
Currently there is a huge threat to the existance of group exercise in Australia as PPCA makes a move to increase music tariffs (the royalty fee that is paid for the privilege of using music in group fitness classes). Therefore Operation M.U.S.I.C. has been an initiative created by Fitness Australia to fight this proposed increase, but is relying on funding and donations for the cause.
